What's new in Victoria for 2013?

Whether the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival is on your calendar every year or you're thinking about joining us for the first time, there will be plenty of new things to see and do both on and off the water this August.

There is no venue quite like Victoria's Inner Harbour.  Located in the heart of downtown Victoria, the Inner Harbour boasts some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever get to paddle.  Teams race from Laurel Point towards the historic Empress Hotel, with the Provincial Legislature looking on.  Take the short five minute walk up to the shopping hubs of Government street, and on a clear day you'll see the snow-topped peaks of the Olympic Mountains.  Ten minutes' walk away through the Old Town district and the former Fort Victoria, you'll find Canada's oldest Chinatown.

Back at the Festival, you'll find that there's a full calendar of cool things to see and do both inside and outside of the Paddlers' Village.  From delicious global cuisines to paddlers in Sumo costumes, the Festival is the most exciting place to be in Victoria.  More than 70,000 visitors from Victoria and around the world come to the Festival each year to check out the exciting races, fun cultural activities and more.

This month, we're giving you a sneak peek at some of the cool things you can see and do at the Victoria Dragon Boat Festival this summer.
